Organizing the Inside – Day 346 Practice Wisdom and Get Results
But wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.” Luke 7:35 (NLT)
…But wisdom is shown to be right by its results.” Matthew 11:19c (NLT)
When we walk in wisdom our prayers of faith will get results. Only the wise practice wisdom. Wisdom is applied knowledge. Therefore by taking what we know to be TRUTH and applying it to our lives we are practicing wisdom. When we pray according to God’s Word those prayers are answered because His Word is His will. Your prayers are heard because Jesus bridged the gap and paid the price to reconcile us to God. Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6 (NLT)
Do you want your prayers to be effective? Don’t expect God to answer your prayers when your life is in shambles because of the way you’ve been living. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16 (NLT) Prayer is not a time of negotiations with the Father. It is a time of faith and humility, when we go to God with an expectation that He not only hears us, but is able and willing to deliver us and answer our prayer.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (KJV)
But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. Psalm 18:6 (NLT)
Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong–you want only what will give you pleasure. James 4:2c, 3 (NLT)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
Just remember: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3 (KJV)
There are no “super saints” your prayers have just as much value as anyone else’s. When you put God’s will ahead of your own desires, things begin to happen. Asking through prayer in Jesus name is about being where He is on the matter. Living life in a way that one’s heart is yielded to God’s purpose and plan is living right before God. This is righteousness: to agree with God and allow His Word to abide, direct and rule in your heart and life.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 3:22 (KJV)
Wherever God is, choose to be there also. Living right before God really has little to do with a list of do’s and don’ts. We are free from the former ways of, do not touch this and do not touch that. By surrendering your heart to the Lordship of Jesus Christ you are made worthy. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) Walk in God’s wisdom, apply it to your life and (even the secret places) not only will your prayers be effective, they will yield enduring results. …attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. 21Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. 22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:21, 22 (KJV) Consider yourself worthy in Him, walk circumspectly in His wisdom and your prayer life will yield great results.
Organizing the Inside – Day 336 Through Wisdom She Learned to Avoid False Starts
17But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3:17, 18 (NLT)
False starts lead to unnecessary pressure. When God speaks to your heart and gives you a specific task to carry out remember to practice wisdom in obedience. It’s great to be excited about the gifts and calling of God, but approach each new venture as a humble act of obedience. If you are like many high achievers when you get an idea from God your reaction is to immediately spring into action. Some Christians live in the movers and shakers lane, and if you’re not moving too you may just have to eat some dust. This method of hot pursuit of their God ordained purpose has (I’m sure) at times left a great deal of carnage behind from others who thought they too were onboard with the vision. In other words practicing accelerated obedience at any cost is not necessarily the best option if you want to enlist the help and support others.
There is nothing wrong with planning first. Actually it prevents a lot of headaches. Planning out your course of action is not only prudent, it saves you from the embarrassment that results from false starts. If more go-getters would only make time to set goals and chart a course of action that others can buy into, they would avoid experiencing the all too familiar humiliation that comes from being overzealous. I get it, when the creative juices are flowing so is the adrenaline. It is critical however that we line up our creative energy with God’s will and timing. When God empowers us to move forward it won’t be with a barrage of unrelenting orders for us to hurry up and act. The Spirit won’t rush us into completing any assignment unless all things are in place. He empowers us to move forward, all the while guiding us gently along the way.
Avoid false starts. The next time you have a creative idea that you know came from God, seek Him first, and carefully consider your next steps. Each time you are called into action it won’t necessarily require all engines full speed ahead. There may very well be a period of processing and planning; this is also action. He won’t give you a dream and then leave you on your own to sort it out. God not only equips us, He strengthens us and provides us with all that we will ever need to complete His great work. Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV) Avoid life’s false starts by seeking God, practicing wisdom and considering others before moving ahead.
Organizing the Inside – Day 325 You’re Just Not Like Most People
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
The term “like most people” is too often used within the Christian community. The fact is: we are not like most people. We must be ready to accept the appointed responsibility of being a royal priesthood. God wants you and me to be different.
(2 Corinthians 6:17) We have been called out, set aside and consecrated unto God for His good pleasure. We therefore ought to refrain from comparing our lifestyle and choices to this world’s standards of right and wrong. The things that the world finds perfectly acceptable and permissible we ought to find offensive. We don’t rely on the systems of this world like some; our source and hope is Christ. Strange and peculiar, particularly odd at times, the world may not understand how we think and react, especially if we think and react like God’s chosen people.
We bring hope and light to a lost and dying generation. “You are the salt of the earth… Matthew 5:13a (NLT) We are different; but not just for the sake of being different, but because we hold up God’s standard of righteousness as warriors in His great army. Therefore let us never again revert to comparing ourselves to the world. Stay away from being like most people; most people are on the wrong road. …For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13b-14 (NIV) Let’s take a stand for what is right and trust God to honor and reward those choices. Having been born again we are no longer of this world. We are strangers in a foreign land, but the Word and hope of God is our song. Certainly we are in the world, but we are not of the world. We do not love the world nor cling to its systems to prosper and find our way. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the light.” John 14:6 (NLT ) Because He has made Himself known to us, we know the way. He said, “…And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:4 (NLT)
14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. John 17:14-16 (NIV)
Organizing the Inside – Day 276 What A Blessing To Be Hungry
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 (NIV)
Can hunger be a blessing?
God promises that those of us who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. Being hungry for righteousness begins with the realization that God is sovereign and it is He alone who can meet your needs. Is there any food that can satisfy the hungry soul? Food is what we each need for survival and without it we cannot live. Jesus is the bread of life. Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:36 (NLT) When we are hungry for Him we have a sincere desire to be filled with His truth and righteousness.
God fills our hunger through fellowship with Him. If you truly hunger and thirst after righteousness, take time to organize yourself internally. Make fellowship with God a top priority. By having daily communion with the Holy One, your strength renewed. Arranging that special place where you connect with the Lord is an intentional act of love. 1As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. 2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1, 2 (NIV)
Fellowship draws you closer.
You cannot have fellowship with someone you do not know. True fellowship comes out of spending quality time together. Fellowship with God is a lifestyle. Setting aside a special time and place to meet with Him is a big part of experiencing fellowship, but it’s also important that our conduct does not grieve the Spirit. I believe that fellowship only happens when we answer the call: Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 (NIV) Fellowship doesn’t have a lot to do with rules and regulations about how we conduct ourselves as a Christians. Fellowship really comes down to who God is to you. When your love for God supersedes your love for the world a sincere desire to walk humbly, live righteously and seek holiness will come about. To God be the glory, for He alone fills our hunger and thirst for righteousness. What do you hunger for?
