105Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. 106I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. 107I have suffered much; preserve my life, O Lord, according to your word. 108Accept, O Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. 109Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. 110The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. 111Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. 112My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. Psalm 119:105-112 (NIV)
What exactly does your life depend on? I’ve come to realize that God is my complete and total source. He alone is my sustenance; and the One who meets all my needs. I pray never again to attempt such foolish exercises in futility as to try trusting in myself. The human element in each of us tends to lean more toward independence. Also, trusting in this world’s system and believing in the goodness of mankind will prove disappointing in the end. I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from which comes my help. Psalm 121:1 (KJV)
He is our only true source. Part of the key to answered prayer is understanding and acknowledging the position that God holds in your relationship with Him. Although, provisions may come by way of a prospering business, or a weekly paycheck, or some other means, ultimately God is the one who provides. Organizations will continue providing services and help for many who are in need, but as believers we never look to, neighbors or family and friends, we look directly to the Lord, our God.
In a bad economy, loss wages, or a sudden down turn in profits, God stands Lord over His Word. His promises assure us that no matter what the current conditions of life on this earth are … He always provides for His children. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NLT)
Never let the fear of not having enough keep you from freely giving. God will multiply each tiny seed that He has provided for you to sow. Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV)
Put your faith only in Him. Let nothing you experience move you from your foundation of faith. Love God, and look to Him for all your needs to be met. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psalm 37:25 (KJV) It simply will not happen. Everything we are or could ever need comes from God. If you’ve looked to or depended on someone or something else, change your way of thinking. If tomorrow your job ended, or your business closed or your savings and all other assets were completely cut off… Who cares? I’ll tell you who, God not only sees, but He also cares and He has promised to meet us at our point of need.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:20, 21 (KJV)
