Day 46- A Simple Act of Kindness
The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’ But wisdom is shown to be right by its results.” ~Matthew 11:19
In my work I spend a great deal of time convincing women that to live a simplified life, they must let go of the things that clutter. Whether mental, spiritual, emotional or physical, many women have too much stuff cluttering their lives and as a result are often unhappy and unfulfilled. I teach women that having too many things on their schedules is a huge part of why they’re feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.
Today, I was gently reminded by the Holy Spirit that what appears wrong at first glance may be the very thing we need. While it seems counterproductive to add to an already full schedule, it’s about the results that come from what you add. It is our love that compels us to give, and there is no need to hold back when we know that God is love.
Random acts of kindness often bring about more fulfillment than marking a long-term achievement. Surprising someone with a simple, yet unexpected demonstration of love, fills your heart with a remarkably fresh sense of usefulness. Try planning just one quick random act of kindness, not only will your heart smile each time you recall your recipient’s reaction, but you’ll leave them wondering… how peculiar. Be ready to explain when asked, “What is this unusual joy you seem to have?”
