Organizing the Inside – Day 247 Instead, Consider What’s Internal

14As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. 15It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. 16May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. Galatians 6:14-16 (NLT)

Do you dress up particularly nice on your days off?
Do you wear high heels and your best high fashion dress when you aren’t going out? Do you style your hair and put on a full face of make up on your day off or when you plan to just hang around the house and work in the garden?  The fashion industry is a multi-billion dollar industry in great part because of women. We are the glory of man, and there is nothing wrong with dressing up that glory. Especially as women we do however have tendencies to check out what other women are wearing, their hair and shoes too. Admit it, we all do it. How many times have you said, “Oh, girl I like that skirt, where did you get it?”

Be careful not to judge each other based upon the outward appearance.
Certainly there is a something more to consider, appropriateness. We wouldn’t show up for a business meeting in pajamas and hair curlers. Beyond what’s appropriate we must be mindful not to judge each other based upon some preconceived notion about fashion or style. That’s what people in the world do, and if we aren’t careful we could fall into that same trap, and as a result treat people based upon way they look.

The flesh would love to dictate your life.
Each time you make an attempt to bring your flesh under subjection to the Word of God it begins to squirm.  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. Romans 7:18 (KJV) It resists the Word and the Spirit which is why crucifying it daily is so important. If we didn’t crucify the flesh it would take us off track regularly. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 1 John 2:16 (NLT) What counts to God should also count to us. How we view each other must be based upon what’s pleasing to the Lord. Not judging someone a certain way because of the length of her skirt, or because of how expensive her red bottom pumps are, is what the Word of God teaches.

What counts is what’s on the inside.
Surely God doesn’t want His daughter looking like a train wreck either. When it really comes down to what’s important, God looks at our hearts. You are looking only on the surface of things. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as he. 2 Corinthians 10:7 (NIV)

Let’s not get caught up.
Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 1 Peter 3:3, 4 (NLT) How easy it is to get caught up in external things? As Christian sisters we must go further and take a deeper look at the things of God. It’s not enough to outwardly live a good life (that’s just having a form of godliness) we must allow God to transform our hearts and minds by the power of His Holy Spirit. If we glory in anything let it be about what Christ did. If we are mindful of anything, let it be about the work that God wants to happen on the inside.
