Organizing the Inside – Day 210 Not An Intellectual Matter

5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. Romans 8:5 (NIV)

Having the mind of Christ.
How can this be? Who then is qualified to have the mind of Christ? For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16
(NLT)
We are His dear children and through the Holy Spirit we can have the mind of Christ. He quickens our hearts and minds to receive the engrafted Word of God and become one with it. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5 (KJV)
If God’s word tells us to let the mind of Christ be in us, then it’s apparent that this is something we can do. But this kind of submission to the Spirit doesn’t come by jumping up and down or by bearing down until you have the mind of Christ. It’s exact opposite of what you can will into existence. While the Lord will never take away your free will; having the mind of Christ only comes about when we give up (yield) our will and let His will be done. Relinquishing control and being yielded to God; that’s not something that is easy to do, and you’ll never do it on your own. It’s natural that your mind wants to be in control of your life. We have become so well-trained to rely on our intellect, that when it comes to spiritual things we end up missing God’s perfect will because we don’t always, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 (KJV) Spiritual matters are perceived by the spirit and when it comes to faith the mind plays a completely different role than it is accustomed to. Our human intellect does a really poor job at walking by faith.  “…then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”  Galatians 5:16 (KJV)

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV) God has given us everything we need to walk in the Spirit, and be the women He has called us to be. We only need to receive His gifts and provisions by faith.

We must allow the Holy Spirit to regulate our heart and the head, with discipline will follow.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
