Organizing the Inside – Day 186 Today, I Prayed For Those Who Hurt Me

21If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink. 22You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the Lord will reward you. Proverbs 25:21, 22 (NLT)

Some things are simply better left to God to handle.
If you’ve ever been wronged by someone and felt you needed to pay them back, you’re not alone. God however, has His own way of dealing with people who come against His beloved children. We could never execute righteous judgment or deliver just retaliation the way God can. The Word of God makes it clear that paying back evil for evil is not any business we need to get in to. His word clearly instructs us to love our enemies and to pray for them. Organizing the inside is about allowing the Spirit of God to rule in every area of our lives. We can’t submit to God in one area, but take control ourselves in other areas. We have to submit to Him in everything we do, no matter how we feel. God’s word is able to regulate our hearts, but only when we yield to it, and confess our inadequacies.

We have the ability to love and walk in humility.
Humility is strength under control. Well certainly revenge may be justified, but that’s not up to you or me. I realize it may seem as though God is not dealing with your enemies, and you need to step in and take action. Oh, but we know this isn’t true, if for no other reason than that His word says so. Don’t say, “I will get even for this wrong” Wait for the LORD to handle the matter. Proverbs 20:22 (NLT) As children of the Most High, we have to live our lives above reproach. Yes, being concerned with first obeying God, but also about how our actions may be misconstrued by others, and bring reproach upon the Body of Christ. I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. Psalm 101:6 (NLT) 17Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.19Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. Romans 12:17-19 (NLT) Don’t worry about how people look upon your kindness, that’s their problem. You must simply obey, and trust God. “It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.” Deuteronomy 32:35 (NIV)

Jesus cast out demons, and people tried to suggest He was the head of all demons, how ridiculous. When we do what is right, unbelievers and busybodies alike, who can find nothing better to do with their time, will try to suggest we are too weak. Watch how Jesus responded to Pilate when he asked, if He was the king of the Jews, He said, “So you say.” (Luke 23:3) Little do these folks understand that in our weakness, God’s strength is made perfect. So when others call you weak, tell them, “So you say.” In the end, I’d much rather be found on the side of righteousness, and let God deal with those who cause hurt.

Tomorrow I must pray for my enemies, again and again.
