Organizing the Inside – Day 184 Getting Over Failure

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4 (KJV)

If at first you don’t succeed… try to get over the initial shock of it all, right? If you’ve ever stepped outside of the square, colored outside of the lines, or gone against the grain of what everyone expected, and followed your dreams then chances are you know something about mistakes and failure. It would require a huge suspension of disbelief to think successful people didn’t make a few mistakes on their journey to greatness. Certainly anyone who has followed their dream and tried to obey their heart over their head has had a few hiccups here and there. The important thing to know is that your mistakes are only small road bumps that may cause you to check your speed, but it definitely doesn’t keep you from completing your trip.

Whenever you experience a blunder or failure or even setbacks ask yourself, “What are my takeaways?”

  1. What can I learn from this experience to make me stronger, and better prepared as I pursue my goals?
  2. How can I turn this around and glorify God through this situation?
  3. Who can I bless with encouragement or insight to help them avoid the same errors I made?

When you are honest with yourself, once you’ve recovered from that huge embarrassing mistake, or awful misstep, you were likely better for having gone through the painful experience. Being patient is not always about waiting for God to fix something in our lives; sometimes we have to be patient with ourselves. Don’t stop trying and never ever give up or give in. Often it’s those Christian women who have a go-getter attitude about following their dreams that are the pioneers who smooth the pathway for others to have a less arduous journey. We’ve all read inspirational books, or heard stories of great women who’ve had to overcome road bumps. These are the Esthers of our time, who inspire us to not give up when things get tough. Imagine what your life will be like once patience has had her perfect work… close your eyes and consider the possibilities of being complete, entire and wanting nothing. Be patient with yourself, learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward.

The only failure we have Liz, is thinking we are perfection in our flesh, in our own self image. We are nothing without Christ. It is through Him that we are perfected.

We should learn best to never give up from our Heavenly Father examples. He never gave up when bearing the cross for us. He still loves us even when we continue to sin. Glory to God.

I hope your day was and is filled with smiles and peace of mind.

Love ya!
