Organizing the Inside – Day 176 Something To Get Excited About!

17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

21At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. Luke 10:17-21 (NIV)

Consider what is most important.
The seventy-two disciples felt so excited that the demons obeyed them when they used the name of Jesus. We often get excited and it can be very exhilarating when we see the power of God working in our lives and in the lives of others through prayer. Jesus seemed pretty enthused that the disciples had discovered this wonderful truth about the power they had in His name. He underscored their excitement by telling them even more, about the power they had in His name. Jesus did however admonish them to put things in proper perspective. He told them not to rejoice because the demons obeyed; instead rejoice because their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Jesus’ statement helps us realign our priorities by reminding us that while God’s power is awesome; the greater thing to get excited about is that we have eternal life. God’s power is ours and as His daughters we certainly have the supernatural authority to walk in it by faith. Let’s just remember as we go about setting captives free and undoing heavy burdens, to be mindful of the most important gift that God has given, the precious gift of salvation. How absolutely awesome is our God!
