Organizing the Inside – Day 160 Does Your Life Protect God’s Reputation?
22“Therefore, give the people of Israel this message from the Sovereign Lord: I am bringing you back, but not because you deserve it. I am doing it to protect my holy name, on which you brought shame while you were scattered among the nations. 23I will show how holy my great name is—the name on which you brought shame among the nations. And when I reveal my holiness through you before their very eyes, says the Sovereign Lord, then the nations will know that I am the Lord. 24For I will gather you up from all the nations and bring you home again to your land.
25“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. 26And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.27And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. ~Ezekiel 36:22-27 (also read Ezekiel 36 and 37)
God has a reputation to protect.
God wants unbelievers to look at the lives of His people and know that He is a God that stands Lord over His Word. God loves us and wants to restore honor to the life of a Christian, not because we deserve it. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6) God does this because of His Holy Name and His reputation. He wants His people to be distinctively different so that our lives would bring Him glory. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure to me above all people: for all the earth is mine: Exodus 19:5
Are there things in your life that are hurting God’s reputation?
Jesus came to redeem us from the law of sin and death. He came to free us from bondage. If there are things in your heart and life that are holding you back from being able to move forward in the work of the ministry and the plan of God for your life, God foreknew and He’s already made provisions. God doesn’t make provisions for sin, but He makes provisions for victory and prosperity over sin. Whatever you are struggling with that is hindering you from moving forward, God’s truth, His word has a solution. Here are things you can do now to change it.
Have faith in God and eliminate the doubt in your life. Jesus told His disciples how to deal with the hard thing. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, ‘Why could not we cast him out?’ And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:28, 29 If you and I want this kind of faith to remove something difficult, to overcome a tough challenge Jesus provides a solution. Consider the demon as representative of the thing that is difficult to get rid of or overcome (it is a type of hard struggle or hindrance).
1. Get to know the TRUTH. Find out what the Word of God says about your specific situation. The one thing that is true is His Word. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32 Notice the KJV uses the word “make” when Jesus makes you and me free, this is a state of being…we are completely free, different, changed forever, not able to go back. However the word “set” is not fully representative of a permanent situation. “Set” indicates that perhaps you could later be held in captivity again, this is not the case when God makes you free.
2. Pray, and the Holy Spirit will help you pour out your heart to God about whatever it is that is hindering you. He will fill you with the power to walk in His divine will for your life but you must pray through until you get a release. Rely on the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to pray this way.
3. Proclaim a fast before the Lord as the Spirit leads you. Fasting brings your flesh under subjection and allows the spirit man to rule more easily. You can end the cycle that has you going from doubt to faith through fasting. The struggle between weakness and strength won’t continue to plague you if you fast to crucify your flesh. Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6
You will discover that not only will the hard thing that is hindering you be removed;
but your life will begin to affect the lives of others in a profound way.
