Organizing the Inside – Day 140 The Gift Of Giving

8“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” ~Proverbs 31:8, 9

11Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation–every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. ~Genesis 1:11

Giving is a gift from God.
There is nothing more fulfilling than living a life that cares for and gives to others. If you are a giving person you know the fulfillment that comes from helping others. Standing up for those who don’t have a voice at the table demonstrates the compassion of Christ Jesus. People, who are giving, focus their time and energy on sharing and empowering others. God uses the gift of giving in a believer to help meet the needs of His children.

Giving opens your life to receive.
Create a habit of giving from your heart. Don’t give out of necessity, but give with an expectation that God will perform His word as a result of your generous giving. Be aggressive in your generosity. It’s your love that will compel you to give. …whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7 If you sow love then expect to receive love. Each seed produces after own its kind. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” Genesis 1:11b Obviously, this scripture in Genesis is specifically referring to plants and trees bearing more of the same. This is however the foundational principle of sowing and reaping.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

2 Corinthian 9:6
Give and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full–pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38

Look for opportunities to give.
The bible teaches us to give, not out of necessity but out of love. There is a different feeling that comes from giving when you are asked to give or when you give because it being necessary because of a need, and giving just because you want to. You experience something uniquely different when you give  from a heart of love, simply because you wanted to. This type of giving will reflect some of the happiness moments of your life. The gift of giving has properties that can heal depression and mend wounds that may be deep within you.

Are you feeling a bit down?
There is nothing like a healthy dose of allowing others to benefit from all that you have been blessed with. Have you seen the look of relief, on the face of an elderly person in a nursing home when they receive an unexpected visit?  Their eyes seem to beam with gratitude as to say someone does care. Have you seen the stunned surprised expression on a waiter’s face when they receive a tip that was far more than they’d expected? No words of thanks are necessary; no expression of appreciation is needed. The warmth and joy that fills your heart when you give just because you wanted to is enough reward to chase away, and keep away the blues for good. God loves a cheerful giver. Go forth and give, just because.

Don’t spoil your reward.
“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, Matthew 6:2, 3 Try giving in secret, it really is the best kind of giving you can do.
