Organizing the Inside – Day 114 Getting An Excellent Return On Your Investments
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” ~Mark 12:30, 31
Are you making a difference in the lives of others?
Do people think of you as someone who has made their lives better? Although you have a schedule and plans of your own remember to include time for helping and encouraging others. Do what you can to ensure the success of others.
1. Showing you care about others and incorporating some of their needs into your plans is tied directly to your personal success.
2. Being willing to give to others from a loving, generous and compassionate heart, creates an environment where the people around you can thrive.
Selfishness is the easiest way I know to get depressed.
Focusing on yourself, what you want, what you need, how you feel, what you think, how you look, your successes, your failures and your life in general can be very depressing. When you open your heart to care for and give time to others, taking your focus off of you; your happiness suddenly springs forth. No matter what God’s plan is for your life, I can assure you of two things:
1. It’s not all about you.
2. It is related to loving and helping others get what they need.
I have a crazy schedule!
I know that your schedule may be filled with responsibilities and things to do. If you are overwhelmed and feel you just don’t have any more to give, you are probably doing too much of the wrong things. Choose to do those things that represent your values the most. Look at which things can be delegated or deleted completely from your list of things to do. You are removing those things that are not important, to make room for what’s important and represents your values. Allow God to bring harmony and balance to your lifestyle by opening your heart and mind for fresh ideas on what to add and delete from your schedule. Start making these changes now and get ready to start the New Year with a more organized and thoughtful approach to managing your schedule.
Don’t measure your success based on the return you receive on investments you make today; instead, measure your success by the return others are getting in 2, 10 or 15 years, from the investments you make in their lives today.
