Organizing the Inside – Day 106 What Is This Living Water?

13Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”  ~John 4:13, 14

Life cannot exist without water.
Water connects all living things and it sustains life. Water was present when time began. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:2   Water is colorless, tasteless and odorless. Where ever we see it, we know there is life. Our bodies are made up of about 2/3 water and about 70% of the earth’s surface is covered in water.  Water is a necessity of life.

Water is a part of us and it’s a part of everything we do
We use water to cook, wash, clean, sterilize and sanitize; we swim in it, ski on it and children skate on a form of it. Some animals travel miles to drink it; fish live in it; while urban birds cluster in birdbaths and rain puddles to wash, drink, and play in it. Thirsty deer pant for it and dogs bark for it. Baby’s cry for it and in remote parts of the world children are dying because a lack of it. Song writers write about it, and movie producers use it to create drama. Its effects can save or destroy lives. Water cools nuclear reactors and when it comes in great force can destroy homes and entire towns. It freely falls from the sky and no man has the power to stop it.

The common and uncommon uses of water are endless.
Jesus used water in parables; His first miracle was turning water into wine. We see God uses water to set the expectation for a life changing Word to man. From God parting the red sea, to Peter walking on water, we learn so much about faith through the supernatural demonstration of God’s power over water.

Jesus speaks to the woman at the well.
The parable He used touched her heart as He told her everything she had ever done. The Samaritan woman was thirsty and the words He spoke resonated with her. He spoke about giving her water. She listened intently as He told her she’d never thirst again. He became a well-spring of life, just what she needed. She’d only come there to draw drinking water from the well, but instead today she found true life and real water.

What do you thirst for today?
What is it about your life that seems unfulfilled, unsatisfied? Are you longing for acceptance, strength, peace, contentment? What do you pant for, like the thirsty deer pants for water? Whatever you are in need of today, Jesus has life-giving water, streams of living water, which never run dry.  If you are thirsty, tired, worn out and need to be refreshed look to Jesus. He’s always right there waiting to give you living water…cool,  refreshing, life changing water. Jesus really is what you need to have life.
