Organizing the Inside – Day 92 Are You Pretending That No One is Home?

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!  ~Psalm 119:10

When you seek Him you will find Him.
God does not hide, but sin in your life can keep you from being close Him. Sin separates you from God.  Now nothing can separate you from His love, absolutely nothing, but because God is holy sin cannot be where He lives. If you can’t see Him you can find Him… He’s knocking at the door. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

First notice that God wants to come into your heart.
There He stands day after day knocking at the door of your heart. Do you race to open the door or do you pretend that no one is home because of all the clutter that has accumulated in your life.  Are you embarrassed about all the things that you have neglected; so you refuse to answer the knock?  Are there certain areas of your life that you haven’t taken proper care of and now they’re moldy or overgrown with junk?

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 David loved God, but his life had gotten off course. His flesh caused him to sin against God and there were things in his life that he desperately wanted God to clean up and change. He wrote: Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight  Psalm 51:4a David wanted cleansing from the sins that he had committed. He wanted to restore his fellowship with God.

Do you ever feel like you just can’t get it right?
Perhaps in spite of your desire not to wander from God’s commandments you realize that somehow once again you have strayed away. God loves you, regardless of whether you have spiritual clutter in your life. If you want out, but feel like you can’t break free, I have good news.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6

There is an answer for the clutter that fills your life.
It’s not enough to want to clean up the outside of your life by organizing your time and possessions when the inside in still filled with clutter.  David knew he had clutter and sought God for cleansing.  If you know you need a cleansing and want to change things on the inside remember: Jesus is standing at the door knocking.  He will come in and clean things up… but first you must open the door to your heart and invite Him in.

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior I pray that you answer the door today. May you find strength and grace to help you in your time of need. May you receive the love of God in your heart then experience the joy of dining with Him as He dines with you.
