This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. ~1 John 3:13
There is no greater love.
God displayed His love by sending His son Jesus to die for us to redeem our souls from the grave. What manner of love is this? That even when we were still stuck in our sins, Christ died for us? This was the greatest expression of love toward mankind.
What then must we do as sisters in Christ?
Allow God to fortify our hearts with the courage to display true love toward one another. I believe this love is shown in our willingness to put the interest of the body first. Our flesh is most incline to do what we find in our own best interest; always considering first, “What’s in it for me.”
God designed a more excellent way.
This clearly defies human logic and goes against our own understanding of how to effect change. Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. The things that are so often given high priority status, even in the lives of Christians are the very things many lay down their lives for. Working long hours and sacrificing everything to earn a living, and have the finer things, cars, houses, and even fame is by no means God’s plan. He promised that all these things would be added if we positioned ourselves to hear from God, obey Him and do what He has called us to do.
Service is laying down your life.
Forgetting about what you think you want out of live and as you move closer to God uncovering the following truths about life and love:
1) It’s not about you.
2) God’s plan is better than your plan
3) Serving God means laying down your life; and only then will you find it.
4) Your happiness, peace, security, safety, prosperity, and fulfillment are all found in His will.
Your willingness to serve, according to the love of Christ and the will of God displays the greatest act of faith; to give of your self in love.
