It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. ~Psalm 127:2
Are you ever so busy that somehow sleep becomes overrated? This has always been a struggle for me. Especially if you are a busy mom or a solopreneur, there is always one more email to answer, one more thing to get done before you finally lay your head down for rest.
More and more I am discovering just how important sleep is to my physical and mental health. Our bodies need time to rejuvenate and our strength must be replenished. Let’s not forget it was God, who created us as beings that need to rest. We’re created in His image and even God had to rest. Being busy from early morning to late evening is nothing to be proud of.
If you feel you’re even too busy to meet with God for quiet time and prayer; you’ve got it bad and something needs to change. God wants us to take time from our busy day to embrace what really matters and spend quality time with loved ones, not just serve them. Listen to the Holy Spirit sometimes He tells us lights out, and we need to simply say, “yes Lord” and get some rest. Also read Luke 10:39-42
Liz, I enjoy your daily digest. The one about getting enough rest is me. As my husband and I were eating dinner, he said, “You look like you should be in bed asleep.” I said, Yes, right after “Fringe”. LOL I’m so tired, but I do come up at night to see if there is one more email I need to read. Of course the first one I saw was yours. So this weekend, I’m not only going to plan my week of action for next week, but I’m going to put some “inaction” in there in the form of rest. Thank you for your gentle (not-in-my-face) reminders. You are such a blessing in my life.
In His grip,
Ann Fuller
Thanks Ann for the kind words. I tell you God is so good and the Holy Spirit is always keeping a look out to warn us of danger. I’ve been trying to do better myself in this area, I don’t want God to have to tell me twice. Thanks again for the comment, it’s very encouraging.
