Empowering Christian Women To Get Organized and Discover God's Plan for Their Lives

Day 23- What Do You Feed Your Mind?

14A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
~Proverbs15:14

What we feed our minds is so important to how we live our lives.  What we feed our minds is just as important as what we feed our bodies, perhaps more important.  If we are spending our time as observers of sin then we can easily become desensitized to the truth about how God views unrighteous living.

There is a new trend that has swept the airways and many Christians are getting caught up in the tragic whirlwind of reality TV.  Now, instead of watching scripted sin being portrayed by real actors many are getting sucked in with a new kind of drama.  They call it “Life unscripted”, and we’d better be careful what kind of diet our minds are fed.

If we are spending time watching others living their lives out on TV when we could be spending that same time living our lives and feeding our minds with the truth and knowledge of God’s Word then we are off course.  Consider scheduling a special hour to meet with God, instead of the Housewives … Surely this is getting understanding and embracing wisdom is far better than being an observer of sin.

You have to feed your mind with things that are positive and edifying. Quick story: I would watch different reality shows (that were full of negativity, cursing and anger) and wondered why I was angry at the world and contentious in my behaviors; my mind was not protected. When you do not protect your ear or eye gates it’s very easy to become swayed by these thoughts and become that which you’re watching.

Thanks Lakia, That is so true… Proverbs 4:23 warns us ‘Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life’.
Think about what we could be doing to our own future by not guarding ourselves from certain things.

Yes sister Liz it reminds me of Proverbs 14’9 ‘fools make mockery of sin’ and Romans 1’32 God’s judgement is against those who have pleasure in those in practise wickedness’. Aren’t our own lives enough of a reality show to observe then someone elses foolishness! Lord please have mercy on us all!

Amen, Amen! Junior – How can sin be a form of entertainment for so many….especially those of us who are of faith?
