Day 5- Power to Be a Witness

42Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.           ~John12:42, 43

Many people believed in Jesus, that He truly was the Messiah but they were afraid of being judged by men.  I wonder if  this made Jesus feel sad.  Somehow I doubt His feelings were hurt because people were afraid to confess their belief. Perhaps if He was sad it was because He knew that they were rejecting the light and would remain in darkness, all because they were more concerned about what people would think.

Do you ever stay quiet about certain things and not speak up for the truth? Do you ever hide your faith behind the guise of not wanting to offend or alienate another?  I suspect that at one time or another maybe we all have kept silent and not confessed the truth. If so did we keep quiet out of a sincere love because the time was not right or did we fail to speak up for the truth because we wanted acceptance from men more than that of the Lord.

I encourage you today to look for opportunities to allow the Holy Spirit to do exactly what He was sent to do, make us bold witnesses for Jesus.  The next time the opportunity to speak up for Jesus presents itself what will you do?  (also read Matthew 10:32,33)
